This course provides training in welding inspection leading to the International Institute of Welding (IIW) International Welding Inspector – Standard (IWI-S) qualification, and the CBIP Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).

Those qualified IWI-S have an advanced knowledge of the application of welding inspection. They are able to supervise visual inspection activities, and develop and implement quality plans, and inspection and test plans. The IWI-S can take responsibility for the acceptance of documents and reports related to quality and inspection.

Course content complies with requirements of the International Institute of Welding (IIW) for the training of welding inspection personnel, and builds on the welding inspection knowledge gained in the Welding Inspector Level 1 (IWI-B) Course.

You need to meet the following requirements to qualify to do this course.

  • Proficiency in the comprehension and writing of English as used in the engineering industry,
  • Proficiency in basic mathematics

Additionally:

  • Those seeking the HERA Welding Inspector Level 2 (IWI-S) qualification must have successfully completed the HERA Welding Inspector Level 1 (IWI-B) qualification.
  • IWI-S applicants must complete the SF 001A application form in order to enter the IIW International Welding Inspector course via the alternative route.In this case, the HERA ANB will conduct an assessment of your application to ensure you meet the IIW access conditions.
  • There are no course entry requirements for those wishing to take the CBIP CWI examinations. It is however strongly recommended to complete the Welding Inspector Level 1 course.CWI candidates should read CBIP document No. PRO-CER-07 for more information.

The standards covered in this course include AS/NZS ISO 17637, AS/NZS 1554 part 1, 2 and 3, AS/NZS ISO 5817, AS/NZS 2980, and AS/NZS ISO 9606.

Candidates who wish to undertake exams leading to Welding Inspector Level 2 qualifications must apply using the SF 001 WI 2 Application form.

This will be assessed for eligibility by the HERA ANB.

Please note that the exam application is in addition to your registration to the Welding Inspector Level 2 course, and that selecting to do the exams incurs additional fees.
