Composite Beam and Slab Software according to AS/NZS 2327:2017-Amd1:2020 – FREE webinar
October 13, 2021 @ 8:30 am - October 14, 2021 @ 5:00 pm

We’re excited to announce that HERA’s long-anticipated Composite Design Software is now available!
This updated design tool to design according to AS/NZS 2327:2017-Amd1: 2020. and we are presenting a free webinar that will highlight the new functionalities of the software covering fire design of composite beams and serviceability limit state checks including deflection and vibration, non-composite and composite design of floor beams using a combination of a hot-rolled or welded steel section along with a concrete flange, and beam design solutions include ultimate and serviceability limit state checks and the influence of partial shear connection on the beam capacity.
Developed on the fire limit state load combinations given in AS/NZS 1170.0:2002, the software will determine the limiting temperature of the steel beam flanges and web as well as the shear studs to ensure that the composite beam will have sufficient bending moment and shear capacity to meet the Fire Limit State demand.
- Engineers who need to know about the software available and its functionalities to check or design of composite flooring systems.
- Metal deck manufacturers and construction experts who need to know about the software available.
- Students who need to know about the composite beam and slab design tool and to upskill in the composite design area.
30 minute on-demand video available to view 13th & 14th October.

Kaveh Andisheh | HERA Manager Structural Systems
Kawa, who holds a PhD from the University of Canterbury, is a structural engineer with over 17 years’ consulting and research experience providing professional services to clients across New Zealand, Europe and Asia. His ongoing areas of focus at HERA include steel and steel-concrete composite structures in general, and low damage seismic solution, corroded structures, structural fire, sustainability, and structural health monitoring in particular. Kawa is a Committee Member (AS/NZS) of Standards Australia.

Andrew Pennington | former HERA Senior Structural Engineer
In addition to work experience at a medium sized consultancy on a mixture of commercial and high-end architectural projects, Andrew brought his gained ‘commercial’ understanding to HERA research at hand. In 2013, Andrew consulted on a number of composite deck developments and tools for composite design. He also worked on the calibration of the new structural design standards for composite design – AS/NZS 2327.
